The new series isn’t set to start on TV until June but host Caroline has said work behind the scenes will kick off in the coming days.

In a post on Instagram yesterday (Monday, April 22), Caroline told fans: “It’s Bank Holiday Monday, it’s so beautiful today. I’m in town, about to go to the gym. But what’s really exciting about this week is, this week we start filming for Love Island 2019!

“And by the end of the week, I’m gonna have potentially have seen the cast for this year. Which is really exciting and mad that’s come round this quick.”

She added: “So I’ll let you know what happens. It’s gonna be a long hot summer and all that.”

ITV2 haven’t yet confirmed the Love Island 2019 air date but typically the show launches the first week of June.

Meanwhile, there’s still (just) time for you to apply for Love Island in 2019. The closing date for applications is currently set for April 30.

It was recently reported that show bosses are going after a more ‘diverse’ range of contestants for this year’s show.

The reality dating contest has come under fire for its stereotypical choice of islanders, focusing on six-packs and slim waists.

However, the upcoming fifth series could shatter that Instagram-perfect image.

The Daily Star claims chiefs want more ‘plus size’ lads and ladies to move in to the villa this summer.

A source said: “Sexy singles come in all shapes and sizes and this is what the viewers will see this year. It’s a really positive move.”
