Channel 4 has premiered the new trailer for The Great British Bake Off 2019 - with a special appearance from the Cookie Monster!

The ever-popular baking extravaganza will be back very soon for its milestone tenth series.

Teaser clips of the famous Bake Off tent have been playing during C4 breaks to get viewers in the mood.

Now the ad campaign is starting proper with a trailer that sees the nation unite over its passion for baking.

It begins with a breaking news report from a supermarket, where shoppers are panic-buying ingredients for cakes, biscuits and breads.

As the stock markets rise, the home bakers whip up and enjoy their creations in a variety of unique ways.

One kneels before a painting of show star Paul Hollywood - and gets one of his coveted handshakes as a reward.

Cake versions of Paul, fellow judge Prue Leith and hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding feature in the clip.

However, the highlight is an extra special celebrity cameo from none other than the Cookie Monster!

The iconic Sesame Street character gives Bake Off his seal of approval as he tucks in to a plate of his favourite snacks, declaring: "Me love you!"

The trailer is named after and soundtracked by a cover of The Beatles hit 'All Together Now'.

It will make its television debut on Channel 4 tonight (Tuesday 30th July) at around 8.00pm.

Chris Wood, acting head of 4Creative, said: "In previous years we’ve used our big Bake Off launch film to celebrate the nation’s collective love of bakes.

"This year we wanted to shift the focus to the people behind the bakes, giving a voice to the diverse and passionate bakers of Britain."

The Great British Bake Off 2019 is due to hit our screens next month. Bosses will confirm an exact date in the coming weeks.

A revival of Junior Bake Off is also in the works, with comedian Harry Hill as its presenter.
