Restaurateur, food writer and novelist Prue joined Paul Hollywood as judge of The Great British Bake Off when it started on Channel 4 earlier this year.

Prue replaced Mary Berry on the hit series, which has been pulling in big viewing figures on its new home.

But Prue says she’s yet to sign up for another year.

Prue explained “I’m still hoping Channel 4 will ask me back for the second series.

“They’ve asked me about timings and schedules but I’ve not seen or heard anything about a contract. It could all change, like The X Factor.”

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Prue went on to reveal she had plenty to keep her busy if Bake Off didn’t offer her a second series: “I actually gave up writing before Bake Off. I’d been doing it for years and it took up too much time.

“But I’ve been coaxed back into it and now I’m writing and cooking more than ever. It’s a busy time.”

The Great British Bake Off currently airs Tuesday nights at 8PM on Channel 4.

Hosted by Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, the ongoing series is the first of a three-year deal for the channel with programme makers Love Productions.
