Who won the Great British Bake Off 2023? Here are all the results and contestants from the series.

It was the final episode of this year’s Great British Bake Off on Wednesday as the remaining bakers competed for victory.

The tent awaited the returning contestants, as they took their place under the critical eye of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond returning for presenting duties.

Who won the Great British Bake Off?

In the final (28 November), the bakers started with a jaw-dropping choux pastry Signature, before taking on a blast from the past in a sticky Technical and finishing with the ultimate celebration cake Showstopper.

Ultimately, it was 28-year-old Matty from Cambridgeshire who won the Great British Bake Off 2023.

They triumphed in the final over runners up 42-year-old Dan from Cheshire and 27-year-old Josh from Leicestershire.

Here’s the latest on who’s left and who was made star baker on the Great British Bake Off…

Week 1 – Cake

In the signature, the bakers were challenged to produce the perfect vertical layer cake. Next, under the fabled gingham cloth were the ingredients for the first technical, an iconic chocolate cake that should have been very familiar. Finally, a sponge showstopper featured a menagerie of animals, giving the bakers a chance to express their architectural skills.

Week 2 – Biscuit

It was Biscuit Week, and the remaining bakers got stuck into a marshmallow-based Signature challenge inspired by childhood favourites, before cracking on with a custard classic in the Technical. Finally, in an illusion-themed Showstopper, the bakers made their favourite meal out of biscuits.

Week 3 – Bread

The bakers started Bread week with a classic cottage loaf in the Signature round, then headed to Devon for the Technical challenge. Finally, the bakers got themselves in a twist with a plaited bread centrepiece.

Week 4 – Chocolate

During Chocolate Week, the bakers tackled three indulgent challenges: a tricky torte in the Signature round, a cheesecake challenge in the Technical round, and a chocolate box Showstopper.

Week 5 – Pastry

In Pastry Week and the bakers tried to avoid soggy bottoms as they tackled savoury Signature picnic pies and a classic French rough puff pastry Technical, before creating stunning decorative sweet pie Showstoppers.

Week 6 – Botanical Week

In Botanical Week, the contestants faced bakes influenced by the beauty of nature, beginning with a spice-rich Signature, progressing to a herb-infused Technical, and culminating in a flower-themed dessert Showstopper.

Week 7 – Desserts Week

In Desserts Week, the remaining bakers got stuck into a retro crème caramel Signature, tackle a classic treacle sponge in the Technical, and create a showstopping meringue bomb revealing a highly decorative dessert.

Week 8 – Party Week

The Bakers popped on their party hats for the Signature and took on a bake that has graced party tables up and down the country for decades – the good old sausage roll – before making a fun chocolate party cake in the Technical and an ‘anything-but-beige buffet’ Showstopper.

Week 9 – Patisserie Week

In the semi-final of the baking competition, the four remaining contestants showcased their patisserie prowess with a series of challenging tasks. They first tackled an elegant French patisserie signature, followed by a buttery French classic in the Technical round. The competition culminated in the creation of a showstopping Italian celebration cake, featuring intricate layers of delicate puff pastry.
