Bosses revived Shipwrecked for the third time earlier this year in a bid to find a breakout smash for Channel 4’s sister station.

The three-week run used the ‘Battle of the Islands’ format that was a fan favourite with T4 viewers in the mid-2000s.

However ratings struggled to break the 500,000 viewer mark.

E4 has now confirmed it won’t be returning in 2020, with a statement given to The Sun newspaper reading: “Shipwrecked brought a much-appreciated splash of winter sunshine to E4 this year.

“However, with a host of new E4 shows arriving in 2020, Shipwrecked will not be on screen next year.”

2019’s series of Shipwrecked aired seven years after the show was last on TV, having spent over a decade on and off air up until 2012.

Radio DJ and recent Strictly Come Dancing star Vick Hope hosted the series.

Two tribes battled it out to win over new arrivals, with the largest tribe at the end of the life-changing adventure being crowned as winners of the ultimate popularity contest in paradise.

The full series is currently available to watch online for free via the All4 Player.

It was recently reported that E4 were looking for new TV formats to air over the next twelve months.
