Georgia Steel reveals heartbreaking reason she’s joined Celebs Go Dating

Love Island star Georgia Steel has revealed why she signed up to Celebs Go Dating.

Georgia appeared on Love Island last summer, where she coupled up with Sam Bird.

While the pair left the villa as an item, the pair’s relationship broke down amid claims of cheating.

Now single, Georgia has candidly opened up about struggling with life after the ITV2 series.

“Before Love Island I was a student making dinner off £2 but now I have a lovely TV, glass lights and a big mirror in a beautiful flat, my life has completely changed,” she explained. “But one thing I must say is that money does not buy happiness. The last few weeks I have been the lowest I have ever been since leaving the villa.”

Georgia told The Sun newspaper: “Your highs are high but your lows are very low. It is a different lifestyle. I could be filming for the day and surrounded by people saying my name but then I go back to my empty flat on my own and it hits me.”

The famously ‘loyal’ Love Island contestant has also said she hopes Celebs Go Dating will show viewers a different side of her personality.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Georgia explained: “I was head-first into finding work. At this point there was loads of press about me and I thought I’ve had enough of people thinking that of me. I want to do something that shows the real Georgia.

“The first episode isn’t me, it is a persona I put across when I am scared and vulnerable,” Georgia warned. “I make myself bigger and harder so I’m not vulnerable, but during my journey in here, it is broken down and you can maybe understand why I am like that.”

The names on the new line up of Celebs Go Dating for 2019 were announced last year.

Alongside Georgia, the Celebrity singletons are made up of reality star Megan McKenna, popstar and Jungle Queen Kerry Katona and Hollyoaks actress Chelsee Healey.

With the girls are a trio of single guys; The Only Way is Essex’s Pete Wicks, Ibiza Weekender head rep David Potts, Love Island’s Jack Fowler and Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson, who is returning to the show having previous failed to find a partner last time.

Celebs Go Dating airs Sunday-Thursday nights on E4 at 9PM.
