Here’s how much the Great British Bake Off 2019 judges and hosts are reportedly paid.
Channel 4 took over the show from BBC One in a deal said to be worth £75 million over three years.
So how much do the judges and hosts get paid? And what about the prize for the winner? Here’s all the rumoured info…
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith
A judge on Bake Off from Day 1 and the only member of the show to stay from the BBC era, Paul is reportedly paid £1.2 million for a three-year-deal, working out at an average of £400,000 a year.
This is said to be nearly four-times as much as he earned while working on the BBC series.
Prue Leith made her debut on the Great British Bake Off in 2017 when the show moved to Channel 4.
Her fee for the 2018 series hasn’t been revealed but in last year, she was rumoured to have been paid £200,000 for her first series.
Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig
According to The Sun newspaper, Noel is getting £200,000 a series after joining the show alongside Sandi Toksvig when it moved over to Channel 4.
Sandi’s pay packet hasn’t been revealed but she says it’ll be the same as Noel’s.
Saying that none of her co-stars are paid more than her, she told The Sun: “I don’t ask what they’re being paid — I just make sure they’re not getting more than me.”
The contestants
The contestants don’t get paid to take part in the show – and there is NO cash prize for the winner.
Instead, they’re competing mainly for the fun. Bake Off provides equipment plus the ingredients for the challenges in the tent.
Bake Off co-host Sandi admitted previously that the cost of paying for ingredients to practice at home can impact the contestants.
“These [the bakers] are not wealthy people,” she told the Radio Times. “To some of them, just buying the ingredients to practise at home has pushed them to the limit in terms of their finances.”
She added: “Maybe that’s not something that gets talked about.”
The Great British Bake Off 2019 concludes at 8PM on Channel 4 with this year’s final.
Alice, David and Steph will compete to be crowned this year’s winner.
