The actor and TV presenter revealed he was previously invited to take part when he was on Coronation Street but had to say no.

Les was on the ITV soap between 2014 and 2016, before his character Michael Rodwell was killed off.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday, Les revealed: "Strictly bosses approached me when I was on Coronation Street and when you're in Coronation Street you just don't do it.

"It's just something that is a blanket no for everybody and that's just the way they treat it."

Now having left the soap, Les told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby he was hopeful Strictly would make an offer once again.

He said: "Yet, who knows. Any challenges now. I'd love to do Strictly Come Dancing, yes please."

However, Dancing On Ice host Phil asked: "Or, can you ice skate?"

After an unsure Les replied "maybe", Phil quipped: "He's less keen on that one. He's stuttering now."
