Love Island’s Iain Stirling reveals the grief he gets from contestants’ families

Love Island narrator Iain Stirling has revealed the grief he’s received from contestants’ families.

It seems as though while the Love Island contestants themselves can take Iain’s jokes, their families aren’t as forgiving.

Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women this week, Iain said: “I always thought people in the villa would get annoyed with me, but it’s actually the families who give me grief.”

He explained: “They complain that I’m showing them in the wrong light.

“But the show isn’t nasty and these people can’t take it too seriously. It’s basically young people having sex in a house!”

He added: “Kem gets ‘Romford’ shouted at him in the street, but it’s all done in good faith.”

Speaking last year on ITV’s This Morning on Monday, Iain spilled some behind the scenes secrets from the latest series.

The ‘most tanned man in Scotland’ had just returned from two months in Spain narrating on the antics of the Islanders.

Love Island enjoyed its most successful series to date last summer with almost 3 million viewers tuning in each night.

But Iain confessed he was initially cautious about signing up to the show having never been keen about reality telly.

Soon though he was addicted to it as us all – only Iain had exclusive access to the contestants.

“I don’t ever go into the villa but I snuck into the camera hides, watching them from afar,” he revealed. “It’s like a zoo.”

As for how his cutting comments went down with the couples, Iain admitted when coming face to face with the cast at the wrap party: “A few people enjoyed it, a few people thought it was funny and a couple of people…

“Well mainly it was their mum and dad who were annoyed. They all know what it is.”

Love Island will return in 2018 for its fourth series.
