Olly Murs lands first acting role as Spike the Cornish Doberman in new Disney’s 101 Dalmatian Street

Olly Murs has landed his first acting role – as a dog in new Disney animation 101 Dalmatian Street.

Olly has signed up for a guest “spot” on Disney Channel’s brand new series, 101 Dalmatian Street, launching on Disney Channel on 18th March at 5pm (Mondays to Thursdays at 5pm).

The first-ever acting role for Olly saw him in a central London recording studio this week, lending his voice to a cool Cornish Doberman named Spike who will appear in a two-part special for the series this summer.

Aimed at girls and boys, 101 Dalmatian Street is inspired by Dodie Smith’s timeless 1956 novel and Walt Disney’s classic 1961 film, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and has been reimagined for the 21st Century.

Set in modern day London in the borough of Camden, the series follows the adventures of eldest siblings Dylan and Dolly, their parents Doug and Delilah, and 97 younger puppies, whose names also begin with ‘D’, in an epic comedy about family life, multiplied by one hundred and one.

Olly said: “Spike is a Cornish Doberman who’s a surfer dude – he’s fun, he’s cool and he gets a bit of a love interest with one of the other Dalmatians.

“I’ve always wanted to do a voiceover and I love acting, so for me this is amazing to be able to do for the first time.

“In the episode that I’m going to be in, they [the 101 Dalmatian Street family] come down on a holiday from London all the way down to Cornwall where they bump into Spike, but the holiday goes wrong and Spike helps to save the day.”

Other famous voices that will be heard in 101 Dalmatian Street include Olly’s fellow The Voice star Paloma Faith who voices Portia Poodle, Ben Bailey Smith (AKA Doc Brown) as Sid Squirrel and Spencer Sausage Dog and Stephen Mangan as Doctor Dave.

The UK guest stars are joined by Josh Brener as Dylan (Silicon Valley, Star Wars Resistance, The Big Bang Theory), Michaela Dietz as Dolly (Steven Universe, Barney & Friends) who voice the eldest Dalmatian siblings.

101 Dalmatian Street will launch on Disney Channel on 18th March at 5pm with new episodes every Monday to Thursday.
