Not Going Out will be back for at least three more series on BBC One.
Lee Mack’s multi award-winning hit show, and longest running sitcom on air, concluded its landmark tenth series earlier this year.
Fresh from THAT live episode at Christmas, series 10 of Not Going out saw seven brand new instalments.
But fans of the show needn’t worry about it being the end.
Lee has confirmed the BBC has asked for a further three new series.
He told The Graham Norton Show: “So, now we’ve got to mine more from our real lives.
“The problem with mining things from your own life is that you then watch it with your wife. So, the guy I write with and I have a rule now that we just blame the other person and say things like, ‘You won’t to believe this, but they also do that thing in bed!”‘
Series 10 of Not Going out followed married couple Lee (Lee Mack) and Lucy (Sally Bretton), Lee’s lovably feckless father, Frank (Bobby Ball), best friends world-weary Toby (Hugh Dennis) and uptight ice-queen Anna (Abigail Cruttenden), Lucy’s generally disappointed father Geoffrey (Geoffrey Whitehead) and nice mum Wendy (Deborah Grant).
Lee and Lucy are joined by their trio of children – Molly (Francesca Newman), Charlie (Finley Soutby) and Benji (Max Pattison).
Details about future series, including air dates, have yet to be confirmed.
With at least thirteen series, Not Going Out becomes one of the UK’s longest running sitcoms.
Last Of The Summer Wine however remains a distant leader, with over 30 series airing between 1973 and 2010.
