Nile Rodgers to replace Robbie Williams on X Factor live shows again

Nile Rodgers will once again replace Robbie Williams on The X Factor 2018 live shows, it’s been reported.

Ahead of the live stages of this year’s series it was revealed that Robbie would be forced to miss some shows due to touring commitments.

While he is away singing in South America, music legend Nile Rodgers is set to keep his seat warm.

The Chic frontman previously appeared on this year’s series at the judges’ houses stage, albeit alongside Louis Tomlinson rather than Robbie.

He then took over for Robbie last weekend during his first week away, however the results show ended with Robbie saying goodbye to another of his acts.

Only duo Acacia & Aaliyah are currently left in his groups category, after duo Misunderstood left last weekend.

“Robbie has had a run of bad luck since he’s been away,” a show source told the Daily Mirror newspaper. “With Nile standing in for him again this weekend, he called him up to stress how high the stakes are.

“He knows Nile is fantastic, but he doesn’t want to find himself the first one out of the show.

“He’s also spent ages FaceTiming the girls and rebuilding their confidence.”

Nile said: “I had such a great time with Louis at the Judge’s House in Ibiza a couple of weeks ago that when the opportunity came to step in for Robbie I could not say ‘no’.

“From CHIC and Sister Sledge to Duran Duran and Daft Punk, I’ve had great experiences with Groups in my career, so I look forward to giving them as much support as I can while Rob is away!”

Currently a total of eight acts remain in the competition.

The X Factor went live for the fourth time this year last weekend with a ‘Movies’ theme.

Two more acts were eliminated in the X Factor 2018 results with Misunderstood leaving left alongside Giovanni Spano.

The X Factor 2018 is back this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV with a Big Band night at the proms theme.

In Sunday’s results show, it’s expected two more acts will head home while there will be performances from guests, Cheryl and Tom Walker.
