Megan McKenna’s secret X Factor auditions revealed

Megan McKenna previously made bootcamp twice on The X Factor, including getting as far as the six chair challenge.

While most know about Megan’s past on Britain’s Got Talent – where she made the live semi-finals in 2009 – her X Factor auditions have never aired on TV.

But Megan auditioned for the show first in 2013, where she made it as far as bootcamp.

She then returned in 2014, making it through to the six chair challenge but Megan didn’t win a spot at judges’ houses that year.

Speaking backstage at the time, Megan said she was “scared of the audience” and confessed: “I had stage fright at the arena auditions.

“I don’t feel like I did well, I just hope they like me and I really, really want a chair.”

Recalling the auditions previously, Megan revealed how Simon Cowell hadn’t be very positive of her musical ambitions.

“When I auditioned on X Factor, Simon told me Essex girls can’t sing country music,” Megan told Closer magazine. “His exact words were that no one would take me seriously. I think that’s a load of rubbish!

“I walked out of that audition with my head held high, and I knew I wouldn’t give up.”

Now Megan is set to release her very own album after travelling to America to launch a music career.

Recent ITVBe reality series There’s Something About Megan followed The Only Way Is Essex star as she worked on her songs which peaked at Number 1 on the iTunes chart last year.

And Megan thinks she has TOWIE to thank for some of the success.

She explained: “When I was on Ex On The Beach and CBB, they focused on me being crazy, which did annoy me. TOWIE showed me in a more ‘normal’ way and now people are going to see what I’m like day to day. I’ve loved being in Nashville, and would like to split my time between the city and Essex.

“Nicole Kidman and Miley Cyrus live there and I always see them in Whole Foods.”

Megan added: “Music has been always my life, but I still love doing TOWIE. I used to be out every weekend, but now my work takes priority and I’ve calmed down a lot. I’m doing what I love and I’ in a happier person.”
