Megan McKenna is leading downloads from Celebrity X Factor’s semi-final live performances.
Last Saturday evening (November 23) saw the fifth live episode of the new Celebrity X Factor, which has brought together familiar faces from the worlds of music, film, sport, television and social media to compete for a life-changing recording contract.
After singing a number of original songs, Megan performed a cover of Roxette’s It Must Have Been Love for the Movies themed semi-final.
The performance received praise from judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh and has also proved a hit with viewers.
It saw Megan sail through to the final live show and now her latest recording is heading up the charts, currently in the iTunes top 10.
Although all of the latest performances have been released to iTunes, Megan’s is the only one to appear in the charts at the time of writing.
Previously her original songs have peaked as high as Number 2, eclipsing the likes of Maroon 5 and Selena Gomez with her record.
The success comes as Megan confessed her delight about “being taken seriously” following her reality TV appearances.
In a new interview and photoshoot with Notion magazine, Megan said this week: “I’m being taken seriously and it’s taken a long time but it’s finally happening.”
She explained: “For so long people judged me and when people meet me they always say ‘oh my god you’re actually nice!’
“I’ve just thought for a long time now I just need to get my head down, pull away from reality and time will show people that this is something I’ve been working towards.”

It was social media influencer group V5 who ended up in the bottom three alongside rugby trio V5 and footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones in Saturday’s results.
With the fewest votes from the public, Vinnie was immediately eliminated.
V5 and Try Star went forward to the sing off, where both Simon and Nicole voted for Try Star to go ahead of V5.
The X Factor: Celebrity series concludes Saturday nights on ITV.
The final round of live performances airs next weekend on November 30 from 7:10PM.
