Megan McKenna says she is “in complete shock” following the death of ex-boyfriend Mike Thalassitis.
TOWIE star Megan and Love Island’s Mike had dated one another throughout 2018 before splitting last summer.
Tragically, it was revealed on Saturday that Mike had died, aged 26.
Megan took to her social media today to write: “Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this.
“I can’t believe I’m even writing this post. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family. Rest in peace Mike x”
Meanwhile, Mike’s fellow Love Islander Montana Brown has appeared on This Morning to talk about his passing.
She told presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “He had a big tax bill to pay, and he thought this celebrity life isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. [But] he had this cafe that he was going to open, and it was like why now.”
Montana explained: “I kind of felt like he was coming out of it which is why it’s come as such a shock, because he was doing so well and I think at the point, the work wasn’t coming in. He had finished Celebs Go Dating and the buzz had kind of gone.
“He didn’t really know what to do for work and he wanted to be his own boss and he didn’t know how to do that and I know he had a massive tax bill to be paid and I think the stress really got to him, and he kind of thought this fame wasn’t what it was cracked up to be, where do I go now?
“But obviously he just started this brunch café which is nearly finished and it’s just like, ‘Why now?'”
The sad news of Mike’s death, aged just 26, first broke at the weekend on Saturday, March 16.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement they were called to a park in London, explaining: “Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 20s, deceased.
“At this early stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious. Police are in the process of informing the man’s next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Mike rose to fame on 2017’s Love Island before going on to appear on Celebs Go Dating.
Love Island said in a statement, saying: “Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island are shocked and saddened by this terrible news.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mike’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
