Maura Higgins ‘replaces Amber Gill on Dancing On Ice line up’

Maura Higgins will reportedly replace Amber Gill on the Dancing On Ice line up.

It was previously claimed that Amber was set to become the latest Love Island star to compete in the ice dancing competition, following Wes Nelson and Kem Cetinay.

However now it seems as though show bosses have had a change of mind.

According to The Sun newspaper, producers have instead signed Amber’s co-star Maura after considering a number of this year’s Love Islanders as contestants.

A source told the tabloid: “Dancing On Ice producers were always going to sign a Love Island star for next year’s series and they wanted a girl this time after having two guys in the past.

“It was looking hopeful for Amber but Maura pipped her to the post with her sense of humour and personality.”

Amber won this year’s Love Island with partner Greg O’Shea. The pair split the £50,000 prize fund, walking out of the villa with £25,000 each.

Maura, who has also been rumoured to appear on I’m A Celebrity, finished fourth place on the series with Curtis Pritchard.

Speaking about the rumours, Maura said at this week’s TV Choice awards: “I have heard but I have heard a lot about things I am supposed to be on. Who knows?

“I’m taking every day as it comes. There are a lot of exciting opportunities there. I can’t comment on anything because I really don’t know.”

The new series of Dancing On Ice is expected to launch in January on ITV.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announced the show would be back in the new year during the live final of this year’s series.

It was former Strictly pro James who won Dancing On Ice’s latest series earlier in 2019, beating Love Island’s Wes Nelson and singer Saara Aalto in the final.

Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill and Ashley Banjo will be back on the series, joined by new judge John Barrowman.

John Barrowman MBE said this week: “I am so excited to be returning to the Dancing On Ice family. Unlike most I have been through the rigorous task of skating live as a contestant in the first series.

“This is a thrilling adventure for me and I hope to bring a Fresh, Fun and Fab-u-lous angle to the judging panel.
