Magician performs ‘world’s most dangerous card trick’ on Britain’s Got Talent

A Swedish magician performed ‘the world’s most dangerous card trick’ on Britain’s Got Talent this weekend.

Pontus Lindman went before judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden in an audition on More Talent.

“I’m going to show you the world’s most dangerous card trick,” he promised

Pontus started by inviting Simon Cowell to pick a random card.

He then asked David to pick a random four digit combination for a padlock.

In his performance shown on More Talent, Pontus then whipped off his clothes and submerged himself in a tank of water, locked in by the padlock.

Pontus managed to escape (just) from his water prison before taking out Simon’s chosen card from his mouth.

David reacted: “You said you were going to perform the world’s most dangerous card trick and you did the world’s most dangerous card trick.”

Simon’s response was more lukewarm: “What you do is very clever but the presentation isn’t quite up there. Showmanship basically.”

Amanda added: “I think it’s a brilliant concept. I think it’s thrilling.”

Alesha commented: “I think you’re crazy, very brave.”

Despite Simon’s reservations, he joined the other judges in giving Pontus a yes through to the next round.

Other acts this weekend included rollerblating duo Adam and Rosie who wowed with a set of daredevil tricks.

We also met two very different magic acts: Matt Stirling, a 46 year old from Ruislip performed an impressive movie themed trick while 42-year-old policeman Dave was joined on stage by his dog Finn for their audition.

Rounding off this weekend’s contestants was 10-year-old singer Giorgia Borg from Malta who performed an original song called ’10’. Not only did she make it through, she went straight into the live shows after winning the latest golden buzzer of the series from Alesha Dixon

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 is back next Saturday night on ITV with yet more auditions.

As always, straight after you can tune in to Britain’s Got More Talent on ITV2 with Stephen Mulhern.

The Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals will start later on in the year.
