Love Island’s Amber Gill gives her side of Greg O’Shea split

Love Island’s Amber Gill has given her side of the events that saw her split from Greg O’Shea.

It was Greg & Amber who won love Island 2019 in July beating Tommy Fury & Molly-Mae Hague into second place. Ovie Soko & India Reynolds finished third with Curtis Pritchard & Maura Higgins fourth in the live final.

However it was revealed last week that Amber and Greg had split after just five weeks together.

Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women today, Amber said: “I’m really disappointed – I wasn’t expecting it all.”

She continued: “I think our careers and the distance thing were always factors, it was something we always knew about so I don’t know what changed. I kind of wanted to make it work but it is what it is really.

“I am disappointed that it’s over but you know I’m busy and I’ll be fine, onward and upwards from here.”

Recalling the split, Amber explained: “All I wanted from him was a bit effort from him to come to London or Newcastle to come and see me.

“I was just, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to have to give up if you don’t put the effort in.’ And then he was just like, ‘OK.’ I was like, ‘Oh really?’ I was expecting him to be a bit different.

“He’s a lovely guy, I am not sure what will happen in the future, it’s a bit of an odd situation.”

Greg last week had his own say on the situation.

Discussing the split on Ireland’s Late Late Show, Greg said: “Me and Amber have been chatting the last couple days, over phone calls. The thing about the text isn’t true, people just want to sell stories. We’re mad about each other, she’s gorgeous, smart, funny personality but you need to be realistic about the situation.

“She lives in the UK, every event wants her there and she deserves all of it. I decided to come back to Ireland to do my things here. I’m trying to get to the Olympics with the [rugby] sevens team. I’ve my law exams coming up.”

He continued: “We’re both so jam packed busy and you need to take the opportunities by the scruff of the neck. We’re just being realistic about the situation and protecting our careers.”

Love Island will return in 2020 with its first ever winter series in January, filmed in Cape Town.

The summer season will air as usual from Majorca later in the year.
