Love Island bosses are reportedly not planning any immediate spin-off shows over fears couples will split.
Past Love Island couples including last year’s winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham have gone on to have their own shows.
But they split just as the series aired, just like 2017 couple Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood who broke up during filming their spin-off.
Consequently, it’s been claimed that producers are avoiding commissioning any shows with this year’s couples for the time being.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s been a publicity disaster in previous years, when couples split before their show aired or appeared to get back together just as the programmes came out.”
“This year bosses want to take the heat off the contestants’ relationships, especially as it’s been such a choppy year for couples making a go of it,” the insider added.
It was Greg & Amber who won love Island 2019 last week beating Tommy Fury & Molly-Mae Hague into second place. Ovie Soko & India Reynolds finished third with Curtis Pritchard & Maura Higgins fourth in the live final.
As winners, the pair played for the £50,000 which was initially won by Greg. He had the option to steal the lot or share, opting to split it with Amber.
Recently revealed Love Island voting figures showed that Greg & Amber won the show with a massive 49% of the vote in the live final, with Tommy and Molly-Mae receiving just over 26% as runners up.
Love Island will be back in January for its first ever winter series, coming from a new villa in Cape Town, South Africa.
Applications for Love Island’s new winter series open now, with the deadline to apply in November.
Caroline Flack will host with Iain Stirling returning as narrator.
The new winter Love Island will be followed by the usual summer season next year.
