The LMA Choir proved a unique audition on The X Factor 2018 this weekend.
Try outs are back this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
One of the latest acts we meet is unusual for The X Factor, as a choir auditioned for the judges.
Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams, Ayda Williams and Louis Tomlinson are greeted by the group of singers from Liverpool in Saturday’s episode.
The LMA choir is made up of student singers aged 19-40 and their teacher.
“I teach musical theatre and dance and these guys are all my students,” explained the choir leader to Simon.
The choir went on to perform This Is Me from musical movie The Greatest Showman.
They got four yeses from the judges who were on their feet after the song.
“The chemistry that you guys have is so infectious. I just found the whole thing so entertaining, so fun, so uplifting,” Louis said.
Simon added: “What made it work was your joy in performing. You brought an energy to the show that we need. I think you need us, we need you. This was great.”
As it happens, it’s not their first time on a TV talent contest.
Last year the group appeared on BBC One’s Pitch Battle where they finished as runners up in the first heat.
Can they do better on The X Factor in 2018?
With their yeses, The LMA choir are through to make the next round of the competition. For now, you can watch a first preview clip of their audition above.
Other contestants at The X Factor auditions this Saturday night included Tom Richards, who previously auditioned in 2010 with Louis Tomlinson, and Armstrong Martins who put a spin on a High School Musical classic.
They join last week’s successful acts including Maria Laroco, a 17-year-old student from the Philippines and another returning act, Scarlett Lee. The 20-year-old Make-up Artist from Epsom in Surrey auditioned for the show last year, making it as far as the six chair challenge.
The X Factor 2018 auditions continue Sunday, September 15 at 8PM on ITV.
