ITV has announced the ‘critics’ joining Elaine Paige on the judging panel for All Star Musicals 2019 – including Broadway icon Kristin Chenoweth and Strictly pro Kevin Clifton.
Bosses recently announced that, following its 2017 debut, All Star Musicals is returning for another one-off special this year.
Hosted by John Barrowman, the show will see seven celebs embark on the ultimate musical theatre masterclass.
Under the guidance of mentor Elaine, the stars will each practise their own number for a spectacular performance at the London Palladium.
Not only must they impress the West End audience, their efforts will be reviewed by four expert critics, including Elaine.
Now ITV has confirmed that the three judges joining her are Kristin Chenoweth, Kevin Clifton and Trevor Dion Nicholas.
Broadway icon Kristin won a Tony award for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and was nominated for her original appearance as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked.
She is also known for her television roles, including Olive Snook in Pushing Daisies, which won her an Emmy.
“The world needs more shows like All Star Musicals, and I’m honoured to celebrate the art of musical theatre with all the lucky people who get to watch it on television!” she said.
“I know this experience will be one for the books. I count myself very fortunate for this opportunity.”
Kevin is one of the professionals on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, winning the most recent series alongside Stacey Dooley.
His stage credits include Dirty Dancing: The Musical and Rock of Ages.
“When I was asked if I would like to be part of All Star Musicals I was like ‘hell yeah’,” he commented. “But to be asked to be part of the actual judging panel was another level.
“I am so excited to join the rest of the panellists. Being honest, it will be nice to be on the other side of the desk for once.”
Critically acclaimed actor Trevor was the Genie in the debut West End production of Disney’s Aladdin, a role which he’s also played on Broadway.
“This is the type of show that sparks generations of new performance and theatre loving souls,” he said.
“I could not be more proud to be a piece of something with so much potential to inspire.”
In addition to sitting on the panel, Elaine and Kristin will also team up to perform a world-exclusive duet.
The line-up of celebrity participants taking part in the show is yet to be confirmed.
All Star Musicals will air on ITV in the Spring.
