Joe Sugg says going on Strictly was ‘the best decision of my life’

Joe Sugg has said going on Strictly Come Dancing has proved to be the best decision of his life.

The YouTuber took part in last year’s series, where he made the final.

He went on to perform in the live tour earlier this year and is currently in a relationship with his former pro dance partner Dianne Buswell.

Reflecting on the past 12 months this week, Joe said: “I said if there was ever one I would do, it would be Strictly, because it’s such a feel-good show, a big family show, it’s the most watched one as well, which is a big, big commitment and a big step to do.

“It’s watched in different countries, and I just thought, ‘this is the time’.”

In an interview with the Metro newspaper, Joe admitted:: “I was so nervous to do it, I was so on the fence about doing it, because of thinking, ‘What could happen if I do it?’ That kind of thing.

“I had a go and it turned out to be the best decision of my life, which was good!” he concluded.

Strictly Come Dancing will return for a brand new series in the autumn.

The Strictly professionals on 2019’s line up were confirmed earlier this year in March.

Alongside the return of Joe’s partner Diane, the women on the line up are Amy Dowden, Janette Manrara, Karen Clifton, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova and Oti Mabuse.

The male pros are AJ Pritchard, Aljaž Škorjanec, Anton Du Beke, Giovanni Pernice, Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima and Johannes Radebe and Neil Jones. Pasha Kovalev won’t be returning having decided to quit after 8 years.

Strictly Come Dancing typically begins in September on BBC One.
