Jamie Laing sends his support to Strictly replacement Kelvin Fletcher

Jamie Laing has sent his support to Kelvin Fletcher after the soap star replaced him on Strictly.

Made In Chelsea’s Jamie was forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing after filming the launch show due to injury.

He had to withdraw after hurting his foot ahead of the first live show later this month.

It’s since been confirmed that Emmerdale actor Kelvin has been parachuted in to take Jamie’s place.

Taking to Instagram, Jamie said: “I just want to give a big congratulations and shout out to Kelvin Fletcher who’s taking my place in Strictly this year.

“Buddy, thank you for your message, I’m sending you one back because obviously you’re going to have the best time ever and you’re going to rock the dance floor.

“Plus, you have Oti, so go on, kill it. Good luck!”

Kelvin is an actor, best known for playing Andy Sugden on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale from 1996 to 2016.

Kelvin said this weekend: I’m a massive fan of Strictly so it’s incredible. I’m so happy that I can be a part of it. But at the same time it’s quite bittersweet! I’m coming in on the back of Jamie’s injury – I keep thinking about him!

“I can’t imagine going through all this excitement and then having to pull out. My thoughts are with him – he seems like a fantastic guy and I hope he’s doing OK.”

Kelvin will dance with pro performer Oti Mabuse who had been partnered with Jamie in Saturday’s pre-recorded launch episode.

Taking to Twitter today, she wrote: “When one door closes another opens… @kelvin_fletcher welcome to @bbcstrictly let’s do this buddy ? ?? it’s going to be one fun journey”

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One on Saturday, September 21 with its first live show.

No couples will go home the first week but their marks from the judges will carry over to the second weekend where one celebrity will be voted off.
