ITV ‘outbid Channel 4 to air The Masked Singer UK’

ITV is set to bring The Masked Singer to the UK, it’s been reported.

The celebrity singing talent show has proved a hit all over the world after first originating in South Korea.

It sees familiar faces compete anonymously in a singing competition, wearing elaborate costumes to disguise their identity.

Their performances are critiqued by an all star panel while audience votes decide who progresses through the competition, and ultimately wins.

Once eliminated, the masked performers finally reveal their identity.

Trade publication Television Business International reports that ITV has won the rights to air a UK version of the show, following a bidding war with Channel 4.

ITV declined to comment to the magazine on the report.

The UK version follows a successful launch for the show in the US on Fox.

Hosted by Nick Cannon, the premiere American season featured Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke and former X Factor UK panellist Nicole Scherzinger as judges.

Celebs who took part included rapper T-Pain, singers Donny Osmond, Gladys Knight & La Toya Jackson and actress Rumer Willis.
