I’m A Celebrity’s Iain Lee to open up about mental health battle in Channel 5 show

I’m A Celebrity star Iain Lee is to open up about his mental health battle in a new Channel 5 show.

Iain, who finished in third place on I’m A Celebrity last year, has been candid about his struggles in recent months.

The Sun reports that Iain is now lined up to appear in Channel 5’s Me and My: Mental Illness late this year.

A source revealed: “Iain has been in a strange mental place since Australia and he’s poured his heart out for the new show.

“He has suffered with mental health problems, anxiety and considered suicide.

“He will be sharing his inner most thoughts to viewers in the hope of helping others as well as trying to lay his own demons to rest.”

Chatting on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch recently, Iain said of his time in the jungle: “It was horrendous and amazing and nothing in between.”

He continued: “Things have been amazing. I consider myself to be a connoisseur of reality TV and I have always loved live TV. It’s been crazy.

“I found myself on Loose Women – I love that show – and I had to slide down a chimney and pour cream all over Joey Essex’s head. This is my life now!”

Iain has also told how he had turned down I’m A Celeb in the past because he wasn’t “well enough”.

He explained: “When I’ve been asked a couple of times before I haven’t felt well enough. I wouldn’t do it if I felt wobbly.

“They psych test you with a really quite intense conversation with the psychiatrist and I was very open and honest about my depression.”

I’m A Celebrity will return to ITV for a new series later this year.
