John Barrowman was EXCLUDED from the second I’m A Celebrity 2018 elimination last night after he was rushed to hospital with a sprained ankle.
An accident occurred on Saturday evening in the ITV camp when John twisted his left ankle while walking down a path to wash a pot.
Malique Thompson-Dwyer and Nick Knowles came to his aid, helping him reach a medical hut.
Show medics ruled that he required an X-ray, and he was promptly taken to a local hospital.
Having had his ankle strapped up, John sent a message back to his fellow celebs.
“I am lying here sipping champagne in a hospital with six male strippers,” he joked. “Continue to live jungle life as normal. I want to be back in there with you all soon, but please get some rest this evening.
“P.S. I want my f****** dinner when I get back!”
Although the Torchwood star spent the night outside of the jungle, he is said to be on a production “lockdown”.
I’m A Celebrity bosses have now confirmed he has returned to the camp and will continue on with the show.
They said that he was back with his fellow celebrities and his return would be broadcast in tonight’s episode on ITV at 9PM.
As John’s absence meant he could not appear live in yesterday’s episode, ITV confirmed he got a bye from the second vote-off last night.
Presenter Dec Donnelly announced the news to viewers at the start of Monday’s episode.
“John Barrowman had an accident last night and was taken to hospital,” Dec revealed. “He’s fine, he’s resting up, but unfortunately we’ve had to exclude him from tonight’s vote until we know whether he’s able to return to camp.”
Fans who cast paid phone votes to save John this weekend can obtain a refund. Details on how to apply for a refund will be published on the official I’m A Celebrity website tomorrow (Monday 3rd December).
The elimination otherwise went ahead as planned. Dec and co-host Holly Willoughby later visited camp to announce the second celebrity to leave.
