The Great British Bake Off 2020 winner has been named in tonight’s Bake Off final.
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were back as judges on The Great British Bake Off this year, accompanied by hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding in the tent.
The 2020 season introduced twelve of the best amateur bakers in Britain to the competition, going on a journey to ice, whisk, beat, bake and knead their way through 10 weeks of testing challenges.
At the end of each week judges Prue and Paul revealed who’s going home and who is the week’s star baker before naming their winner in this evening’s final.
Who won the Great British Bake Off 2020?
In the final tonight it was 20-year-old Peter Sawkins who won the Great British Bake Off 2020.
He left 31-year-old Laura Adlington from Kent and 30-year-old Dave Friday from Hampshire as runners up.
In the final Paul and Prue set three challenges that tested every aspect of the final three’s baking skills.
There was a deceptively simple Signature as the trio were tasked with making custard slices before a Technical celebrating the classic combination of chocolate and nuts: The Walnut Whirl.
Finally, in the Showstopper, the bakers had free rein to show the judges exactly why they deserved to be crowned the winner, as they constructed magnificent dessert towers.
The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4. You can watch and catch up on current and past instalments online from the All 4 player.
