Dancing On Ice’s Gemma Collins says she’s not a ‘fat joke’ and vows to WIN

Gemma Collins has vowed not to quit Dancing On Ice and is determined to win.

Gemma, who rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex, was the first name confirmed for next year’s new series.

The reality star is hoping to prove her critics wrong, declaring ahead of the launch she’s not a ‘fat joke’.

“Everyone thinks I’m the fat joke on the show but whatever’s going to happen in my life, I can do this,” Gemma declared.

She told The Sun newspaper defiantly: “I am going to prove every f***er out there wrong. People will be eating their words.”

Meanwhile, speaking at the launch of the show, Gemma dismissed claims that she would end up walking away from the competition.

Gemma said: “I won’t quit, I’m not here to take part, I’m here to take over.”

She explained: “I wanna do the splits, I wanna do a couple of spins, I want fireworks.

“Torvill and Dean, you’re gonna take a step to the left, cos I am about to win the Bolero cup.”

However Gemma went on to confess: “There’s been tears, there’s been moments when I’ve thought I am not going to be able to do this, but I just love it.

“I don’t know what has happened but I am at one with the ice. I love her. When you get on the ice no one can get to you, no one can ring your mobile phone, it is very therapeutic. I am enjoying it.

“I am coming out to Beyonce on show one and I’m gonna make everyone that doubted me eat their words.”

Gemma also revealed hopes for some epic costumes.

She said: “I’m like Lady Gaga aren’t I? The more over the top the better. I’m working with the costume department really closely. I’ve asked for grade A Swarovski crystals, and as many feathers as they can find. They’re totally on board.”

Meanwhile, Gemma’s professional partner Matt Evers thinks she’ll surprise viewers when the competition begins in January.

He told FuBar Radio: “She is working her little tail off. I think she’s really going to surprise a lot of people.

“As long as she sticks with it, because as we know with her history she hasn’t had the best – I don’t want to say she’s a quitter – but she has fully committed to this up to this point. She really wants to nail this.”

Dancing On Ice 2019 begins on Sunday, January 6 on ITV.
