First Dates is back tonight on Channel 4 with a brand new episode and more singletons looking for love.
The brand new series sees the show filming in its Manchester restaurant.
In this romantic new setting, maĆ®tre d’ Fred and some new helpers welcome an array of single people who hope to be served the love of their lives with the help of some new and returning staff.
Tonight (15 May) sees the fifth episode from the show’s twentieth series.
First into the restaurant is 41-year-old wedding photographer Marc, who is yet to find a picture-perfect love of his own. He’s been matched with 40-year-old graphic designer Louise, who describes herself as ‘The Warmer Upper’ when it comes to relationships because her exes have a habit of quickly marrying someone else…
Debbie, who’s 47 and from Wales, is a pharmacy assistant by day and rock/pop singer at night. She meets plenty of men at her gigs but they’re usually a bit too drunk to be taken seriously. Her date is 42-year-old Jonny, who’s fed up with being told he’s ‘lovely but…’ Debbie usually goes for the bad boys, so will Jonny be the change she needs, or will their date end with the dreaded b-word?
Clayton is a 55-year-old divorced father looking for love again. He’s growing his beard to look a bit more ‘Idris Elba’ and tries to hide the fact that he’s a grandfather. He says he’s looking for a ‘confident female’… and in bursts straight-talking Bunmi: a 40-year-old Nigerian-born business analyst who’s been told that she’s ‘unapproachable’. They connect over their past relationships and how they feel they’ve since got their ‘mojo’ back.
And 20-year-old Josh is a former youth Olympic trampolinist from Essex, who worries that ‘being ginger can be a niche market’. His date is Bethany, a 22-year-old marketing manager who describes the ginger-scale as ‘the average gingers down one end’ and the ‘very attractive Prince Harry and Greg Rutherford types up the other end’.
But where’s Josh on that spectrum? And while he feels comfortable enough to reveal a tragic loss he’s experienced, will he fall head over heels?
