Ferne McCann reveals her secret past on The X Factor

Ferne McCann has revealed she once auditioned for The X Factor.

The reality star has confessed she previously tried her luck as a singer and hoped to perform for Simon Cowell.

However it didn’t really work out for poor Ferne.

She explained: “I auditioned for The X Factor years ago but I never got through. I didn’t even get to the stage where I got to meet Simon. I sang that song ‘Fever’ – but I didn’t get through.”

In an interview with DigitalSpy, Ferne went on to reveal her ambitions of making it on the West end.

“I didn’t go to stage school but I love new challenges and opportunities,” she said. “I always wanted to be on the stage, even before I had my daughter Sunday. I always wanted to be in a West End musical – no dream is too big!”

As it happens, Ferne isn’t the only TOWIE star to try it on The X Factor.

Megan McKenna previously made bootcamp twice on The X Factor, including getting as far as the six chair challenge.

But Megan auditioned for the show first in 2013, where she made it as far as bootcamp.

She then returned in 2014, making it through to the six chair challenge but Megan didn’t win a spot at judges’ houses that year.

Speaking backstage at the time, Megan said she was “scared of the audience” and confessed: “I had stage fright at the arena auditions.

“I don’t feel like I did well, I just hope they like me and I really, really want a chair.”

Recalling the auditions previously, Megan revealed how Simon Cowell hadn’t be very positive of her musical ambitions.

“When I auditioned on X Factor, Simon told me Essex girls can’t sing country music,” Megan told Closer magazine. “His exact words were that no one would take me seriously. I think that’s a load of rubbish!

“I walked out of that audition with my head held high, and I knew I wouldn’t give up.”
