England cricketer Graeme Swann ‘signs up for Strictly Come Dancing’

England cricketer Graeme Swann has reportedly signed up for Strictly Come Dancing.

The bowler is the latest cricketer to take part in the series, which begins again in September.

Past contestants have included Mark Ramprakash, who won the show, Darren Gough, Phil Tufnell, and Michael Vaughan.

“Producers love a sportsman and cricketers have a great track record,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “Though Graeme might come across as a bit awkward, they’re hoping he’s got twinkle toes like some of his predecessors.”

Earlier today, Katie Piper became the first celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Katie is a best-selling international author, inspirational speaker, TV presenter and charity campaigner. Katie made the decision to share her story in a remarkable film for the Cutting Edge strand on Channel 4 called ‘Katie: My Beautiful Face’ which was watched by over 3.5million viewers and nominated for Best Single Documentary at the BAFTA Television Awards in 2010.

Katie said: “I feel so privileged and excited to be part of my favourite show on TV. I already know how much of an amazing experience it will be for me and I can’t wait to show my girls some of my new dance moves. I’m nervous to put on my dancing shoes but can’t wait to learn a new skill and have the Strictly tan and makeover!”

Further names will be officially confirmed over the comin days.

Expected to join Katie are popstars Ashley Roberts of the Pussycat Dolls, one piece of hit 1990s group Steps, Faye Tozer and Blue’s Lee Ryan.

Also rumoured for this year’s line up are Capital FM radio DJ and TV presenter Vick Hope, BBC News journalist Kate Silverton and This Morning’s Dr Ranj on this year’s line up.

The Strictly 2018 cast is also set to see its first YouTuber with vlogger Joe Sugg, brother of fellow online celeb Zoella, set to take to the dancefloor.

Two further celebs will be announced later today (Monday, August 13) on The One Show.

Strictly Come Dancing begins on BBC One in September.
