EastEnders star Rita Simons rumoured for I’m A Celebrity 2018 cast

Rita Simons has been rumoured for this year’s I’m A Celebrity 2018 line up.

The former EastEnders actress is the latest name linked to the upcoming series.

Rita, who recently opened up about dealing with anxiety and OCD, is said to have been approached by ITV bosses.

She left BBC One’s EastEnders in 2017 when her character Roxy Mitchell was killed off.

A source shared to The Sun newspaper: “Rita was one of the most recognisable faces in soap before her character was tragically axed. She is yet to venture into the world of reality TV so it will be a massive coup for ITV to secure her.

“Obviously it will be hard for Rita to live in the jungle with her health problems but she’s hoping that some time away from her hectic lifestyle will help and that it will also provide a career boost and hopefully lead to her landing another big TV part.”

Other names rumoured for I’m A Celebrity this year include X Factor singer Fleur East, TV presenter Kate Garraway and Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing.

Jamie would follow in the footsteps of costar Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, who took part and won last year.

Holby City actress Rosie Marcel also recently revealed she too has been ‘in talks’ to appear on the show.

More celebs rumoured are TV host Nick Knowles, Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer, former S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens, Love Island’s Olivia Attwood and Celebs Go Dating’s Charlotte Dawson, plus Corrie stars Shayne Ward, Lucy Fallon and Catherine Tyldesley.

Also rumoured are Love Island and Blazin Squad star Marcel Somerville, Inbetweeners star Emily Atack, snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan, winter Olympian Elise Christie and Strictly Come Dancing pro Brendan Cole after his exit from the BBC One series.

A spokesperson for the show said: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here are speculation at this stage”

I’m A Celebrity typically airs in November on ITV.

Dec will front the show alongside new co-host Holly Willoughby, after Ant stepped down from TV work until 2019.
