David Walliams reveals Britain’s Got Talent spoilers from the new series

David Walliams has revealed all about Britain’s Got Talent 2019’s new series.

The comic returns for his sixth year on the ITV show this Saturday evening.

Once again joined by Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden, David Walliams has been spilling all about the new series.

“There have been loads of surprises, loads of really talented people,” he said of the upcoming auditions. “As much as you like people with stories and humble beginnings, all those kind of things, you do need people to be talented as well, it is a talent competition after all.

“There have been loads of funny acts and a great variety of acts.

“What I love about this show is people will come out and sometimes you really don’t know what genre of entertainment they’re going to do. Sometimes it’s clear, like if someone comes out in a leotard, you think they’ll most likely be dancing. But sometimes they wander on and do the most random things.”

David went on to discuss Ant’s return to the show after he missed last year’s live shows.

“Ant and Dec are really nice blokes and they are ‘what you see is what you get’ type of people,” he praised. “It’s not like they have a persona that’s different to how they are on TV, that’s why people love them so much, they’re just so natural and themselves. It was nice being back together.

“I love being around those two. Obviously, I don’t get to do so much with them because we’re on the judges’ table, but I feel a kinship with them because, well, one is I’ve known them for about 25 years because I started off writing for them.

“Second, and I know that they’re a hundred times more successful than me, but we’re in the same mould as in we’re interested in comedy and entertainment and all those
things. Our background is acting, sketches and silly shows. I love to spend time with them.”

Meanwhile, it’s Britain’s Got Talent’s 13th series, and that seems to be upsetting Simon.

“Well he is superstitious the way that an old lady is superstitious!” David revealed. “I’m not actually into all that, so I don’t really think about that kind of thing. There have been some spooky acts on the show that I think will fit in well with that theme.

“There was a great one in London where Amanda was led down to the depths of the Palladium by a magician.

“That act was really good and something I’ve never seen before. That’s the thing, you’ve always got to think the show’s moving forward so we need something that we’ve never seen before.

“The worst thing is if we feel we’re standing still or trying to harp back to the past.”

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 begins Saturday, April 6 at 7:15PM on ITV.
