David Walliams and Matt Lucas are said to be planning a TV comeback.
The comedic duo are best known for their hit BBC shows Little Britain and Come Fly With Me.
And it could be the latter that sees the pair return to television together once more, with rumours they may film a special for 2019’s Comic Relief.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, David and Matt are “speaking again” after a rumoured row saw them work on projects individually.
A source claimed: “It’s all very quiet, and very recent, but Matt and David have started speaking again. They’ve made up, which is amazing and what’s even better is that they are in serious discussions to work together next year.
“Both realise they missed one another a lot and realise how much joy they can bring themselves and the general public by making a comeback. They are not sure they can make Little Britain work today, as it has come under so much scrutiny, so toned-down Come Fly With Me is seeming the best option at the moment.”
Speaking previously about a possible return for Little Britain, David said it would be a very different show today.
The iconic series, which ran on BBC Three and BBC One between 2003 and 2007, starred David and Matt in a number of regular sketches.
“You’d definitely do it differently because it’s a different time now,” he said.
He told the Radio Times magazine: “You’d make any comedy differently. We started working on Little Britain nearly 20 years ago, because it was on radio first.
“It’s hard to say specifically how it would be different. There’s all kinds of tolerances that change. People understand people’s predicaments more now. Maybe it’s, ‘We see this differently, we’ve got more information,’ and it would be a different type of joke.”
Matt also all but ruled out a return for the show in its original form in a past interview.
“One of the reasons [Little Britain] was so successful is because it was a reflection of its time,” Matt explained. “I don’t think we would get away with Little Britain today.
“In some ways, we are more conservative now but in other ways, we are more liberal.”
