Danny John-Jules failed to show up to Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two tonight after his elimination.
At the weekend the nine remaining celebrity and pro couples all danced live one more time before the judges scored and viewers voted. In the dance off, Graeme Swann and Danny John-Jules had to dance again and it was Danny who left in this week’s Strictly Come Dancing results.
It wasn’t a unanimous decision from the judges, with Craig saving Danny but the others all voted to save Graeme, who was in the dance-off for a second time.
Danny and pro partner Amy Dowden had danced the Samba to Feels Like Home by Sigala, Fuse ODG, Sean Paul, Kent Jones and were meant to join It Takes Two tonight.
However host Zoe Ball introduced Amy alone, telling viewers: “Sadly, Danny has decided not to join us tonight.”
No exact reason was given for Danny’s no-show, as Amy told Zoe about leaving: “Obviously I was super emotional last night. I told myself I’m not going to cry tonight. I’m somebody whose glass is always half-full. We did some amazing performances – we got the first ten of the series.
“It’s a dream job and I’m just very lucky to have had the opportunity – and I got further than last year!”
After landing bottom of the judges’ scores, Amy admitted to Zoe that being in the dance off “didn’t come as a shock.”
While Danny has yet to comment on why he wasn’t on It Takes Two, he has sent his support to Amy on Twitter.
He wrote: “I should of have expressed my gratitude more often. You truly inspired me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the knowledge I have taken away with me, curtesy of your good self. ??????”
The pair went into Saturday’s show involved in controversy after claims of a nasty backstage bust up.
On Friday, Amy said: “Things did get a little bit intense the other day in rehearsals. Do you know what? We took a half-hour break and then got straight to it. I never felt threatened or bullied by Danny.”
Danny added: “The only reason I’m here this far is because of Amy. I would never bite the hand that feeds me. I am more than happy. It’s probably the best dancing we’ve done, the last couple days, since I’ve been on the show. I’m just happy to go along. She’s the boss. She wears the pants. Why would I argue with a Welsh woman?”
The remaining eight couples will take to the dancefloor next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 17th November at 6.45pm live from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
The next results show airs on Sunday 18th November at 7.20pm on BBC One.
