The BBC is reportedly working on a UK version of American gameshow The Wall – with Danny Dyer as presenter.
The Wall features a 40-foot pegboard with various slots at the bottom (similar to Plinko on The Price Is Right).
Across four rounds, contestants answer questions and drop balls in to the titular wall, aiming to win huge cash prizes.
A smash hit for NBC in the US, the show has travelled to over twenty countries worldwide – and the UK could be next.
The Sun suggests that the BBC has ordered a pilot episode, with none other than Danny Dyer attached to host.
The broadcaster apparently wants to test the EastEnders actor on a Saturday night primetime entertainment show after he signed a ‘golden handcuffs’ exclusivity deal.
If bosses approve of what they see, a full series is likely to follow.
“In the eyes of bosses Danny can do no wrong,” The Sun’s source said. “They think it could give them a Saturday night hit outside of Strictly.
“Danny’s banter and humour is why the public like him and they’re hoping to capitalise on that. If it all lines up well they want it on TV later this year.
“It’s still early days but if it works and commissioners like it then there’s no reason why it couldn’t be a hit.”
Filming will take place next month in Poland, where makers Endemol Shine have a production hub for The Wall.
Several international adaptations, including the Australian version, are based there in order to save money recreating the expensive set.
However, a BBC version of the show is certain to feature a far smaller jackpot than the original.
In the US, the maximum possible prize comes in at over $12million (£9.18million), one of the biggest prizes in gameshow history.
Danny currently appears on BBC One in his factual series Right Royal Family, airing on Wednesday nights at 9pm.
