Dancing On Ice’s James Jordan says he needs surgery on arm injury

James Jordan says he needs surgery to fix his Dancing On Ice injury.

It was former Strictly pro James who won Dancing On Ice 2019 on Sunday night, beating Love Island’s Wes Nelson and singer Saara Aalto in the final.

However he battled through the night with an injury that almost saw him quit the competition.

Now James has revealed he needs an operation on his arm.

“When I woke up on Sunday morning I said to producers, ‘I’m out. I’m not going to be able to perform because of my shoulder.’ I could not lift my arm,” James recalled this week. “Sharon, the show’s physio, is the only reason I got to perform on the night.

“I said to her, ‘Do whatever you can to get me through those three dances and I’ll love you for ever’, and she did.”

He told The Sun newspaper: “Now I’m going to need surgery.”

James went on to say he found Strictly far harder than Dancing On Ice due to the danger.

He explained: “It’s the fear. When you get something wrong on the dance floor it doesn’t really matter, as the worst-case scenario is you might trip up. If you get a lift wrong, it’s like, ‘Oh well, let’s try that again’.

“If you get a lift wrong on the ice you drop your partner on the head and it’s the worst feeling ever. It’s much more dangerous.”

James triumphed over Wes in the final skate on Sunday after Saara finished the series in third place after ten weeks of competition.

On the show, James reacted: “I feel overwhelmed, my body is going to need a massive rest. I couldn’t have pushed myself any harder… It’s honestly been amazing.”

James’ pro skater Alexandra Schauman added: “I’m so proud, I couldn’t be prouder”

James joins fellow Dancing On Ice winners Gaynor Faye, Kyran Bracken, Suzanne Shaw, Ray Quinn, Hayley Tamaddon, Sam Attwater, Matthew Wolfenden, Beth Tweddle, Ray Quinn and Jake Quickenden.

Dancing On Ice will return to ITV next year, it’s already been confirmed.
