Dancing On Ice’s Gemma Collins hits back at Jason Gardiner’s marks

Gemma Collins has hit back at Jason Gardiner over his criticism of her Dancing On Ice routine.

Dancing On Ice launched on ITV last night with the first six couples taking to the ice for the first time.

At the end of each routine the judges – Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo – gave their marks and comments before viewers could vote for their favourite.

Gemma’s performance to Crazy In Love by Beyoncé & Jayz-Z scored a total of 16 points but Jason awarded just 2.5 marks.

he told her afterwards: “You talk a big talk but you don’t back it up. It reminded me of a French and Saunders parody. This was uncomfortable to watch. You haven’t got any technique.”

Reacting to the score during an interview on ITV’s This Morning today, Gemma said: “You know what? Do I really care? I’m the GC babydoll!

“I’m doing it for all the curvy girls out there, who thought they couldn’t ever ice skate. I’m gonna set up and ice skating dancercise class!”

Despite the low marks, Gemma made it through to the next weekend.

“Come on, let’s bring it on, let’s do some more [skating],” she enthused.

Also performing in Sunday evening’s opening live show were Grease legend Didi Conn & Lukasz Rozycki and former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan & Alexandra Schauman.

Joining them were soap star Jane Danson & Sylvain Longchambon, Aussie actor Mark Little & Brianne Delcourt and X Factor singer Saara Aalto & Hamish Gaman.

It was Mark Little who was bottom of the combined judges’ scores and viewers’ votes meaning he’ll be in the first skate off next weekend. Mark will face the couple who rank bottom of the second set of celebs to skate for the first time.

Dancing On Ice 2019 airs at 6PM on ITV on Sunday nights, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
