Dancing On Ice judges accused of ‘undermarking’ Saara Aalto

Dancing On Ice viewers have accused the show’s judges of undermarking Saara Aalto.

The X Factor singer found herself bottom of the scoreboard on Sunday, but many felt undeservedly so.

A number of those watching on hit out at judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo for being overly harsh on the performer.

One wrote on Twitter: “James could fall flat on his face and still get 9s. Saara could skate blind fold with one leg tied behind her head and she’d still get 8s #DancingOnIce”

Another slammed: “Ooooh, look! Saara undermarked AGAIN! James got a 9.5 for his messy routine and Saara got 8s across the board!? Outrageous. #DancingOnIce”

“#DancingOnIce It’s honestly angered me the way they have scored Saara tonight. #Teamnofear #VoteSaaraandHamish,” a third fan wrote.

And a fourth agreed: “Massively underscored there for Saara. #dancingonice”

However the judges later redeemed themselves in some people’s eyes as they saved Saara in the skate off.

The judges scores were combined with the viewer’s votes before the bottom two couples were revealed as Saara & her pro partner Hamish Gaman and Melody Thornton & her pro skater Alexander Demetriou.

The judging panel then chose who to save and who to send home and it was Melody who left Dancing On Ice 2019 this week.

Dancing On Ice will continue next weekend with its semi-finals.

Alongside Saara & pro partner Hamish, those left on the line up are singer Brian McFadden & pro skater Alex Murphy, Love Island’s Wes Nelson & his pro partner Vanessa Bauer and former Strictly Come Dancing dancer James Jordan & his pro partner Alexandra Schauman.

Wes is currently the hot favourite to win the series after scoring the highest marks of the weekend. His routine to Treasure by Bruno Mars scored him the first tens of the series, for a near perfect total score of 38.5 out of 40.

Dancing On Ice’s final will air in March.
