Dancing On Ice will return for a brand new series in 2020, it’s been confirmed.
DOI hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield made the announcement in tonight’s live final of the latest run.
Dancing On Ice originally ran between 2006 and 2014, hosted by Philip, Holly and later Christine Bleakley.
After a four-year break, the show returned in 2018 to big ratings that were matched by this year’s series.
So it’s no surprise to learn that a brand new celebrity cast will be taking to the ice next year.
It’s not yet been confirmed if current Dancing On Ice judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo – or hosts Holly & Phil – will be back.
Tonight’s Dancing On Ice final saw the latest winner crowned after ten weeks of competition.
Going into the final were Love Island’s Wes Nelson & pro partner Vanessa Bauer, singer Saara Aalto & pro skater Hamish Gaman and dancer James Jordan & professional Alexandra Schauman.
In the first half of the final’s results, after two performances from all of the celebrity couples, Saara was eliminated leaving James and Wes as the top two.
James and Wes then went on to perform once more, skating to the iconic Bolero.
Lines then closed for good before Phil and Holly returned to announce the Dancing On Ice 2019 winner as James beat Wes to victory.
He joins fellow Dancing On Ice winners Gaynor Faye, Kyran Bracken, Suzanne Shaw, Ray Quinn, Hayley Tamaddon, Sam Attwater, Matthew Wolfenden, Beth Tweddle, Ray Quinn and Jake Quickenden.
Dancing On Ice airs on ITV. The show typically airs January-March.
