Dancing On Ice’s Jake Quickenden to be bandaged up for the final but WILL skate

Dancing On Ice’s Jake Quickenden will be bandaged up for tonight’s final performances.

With just days to go before the final, Jake injured his hand in the week while training.

A spokesperson for Dancing On Ice said: “Jake dislocated his thumb and later went to hospital for treatment.

“He is still expected to perform this weekend.”

Jake tweeted: “So I hurt my thumb today had to go for xray and MRI scan but I will ? be skating on Sunday, I have not come this far to let a sore thumb stop me! Thanks for the nice messages ?”

Speaking ahead of tonight’s live show, Jake reaffirmed he WILL be skating – but with bandages.

He said: “It will need to be strapped up for support but yeah, get some glitter on it or something and it’ll be fine.

“I’ve got a nice strapping on it – we’re still doing the head banger and stuff like that.”

Jake told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I had a few hours off where I had to go and get it checked, obviously just for precaution because I don’t want to be doing something that can cause Vanessa any danger or harm.

“So, got it all x-rayed, they said I can skate so as soon as they said that I literally sprinted out, put my skates on and got straight back on the ice.”

This evening Jake and pro partner Vanessa Bauer will perform a showcase routine to A Little Less Conversation by Elvis vs JXL and reprise his Week 3 skate to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai.

Jake is currently the odds-on favourite to claim victory during the Dancing On Ice final this evening.

Despite the hand injury, Jake goes into the live show as the shortest priced favourite OF ALL-TIME, bookmakers Ladbrokes reported on Monday.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Jake’s taken to the ice like a duck to water – so much so that he’s entered bookie record books as the shortest-priced favourite we’ve ever seen.”

Dancing On Ice 2018 concludes with the live final on tonight, March 11 on ITV.

Jake is in the final against Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent and rugby player Max Evans.

ITV has already confirmed another series of Dancing On Ice to air in 2019.
