Dancing On Ice’s brand new set has been left damaged by a storm.
A new purpose built ice arena has been constructed for the upcoming show, which returns to TV on Sunday night.
But DOI contestant – and ITV weatherman – Alex Beresford broke bad news yesterday.
He said on ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “I’ve got some… I wouldn’t say breaking news but because of the storm Eleanor that we had yesterday, we’ve actually had some damage at the ITV Dancing On Ice studio.
“In fact, one of the walls came down.”
“So hopefully, that is all back up and we’ll be good for Sunday” he added.
Dancing on Ice will skate back onto screens as it makes a triumphant return to ITV this Sunday night.
Legendary skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will be reunited with original hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the show that sees celebrity skaters take to the ice in a bid to dance and dazzle their way to glory.
Speaking ahead of the first live show, Jayne and Chris hyped up the new look set, which is comprised of two rinks.
Jayne teased: “There’s also a tunnel connecting the practice rink to the main rink and we might see some tears there. Chris is calling it the tunnel of doom.”
Katie Rawcliffe, Creative Director at ITV Studios added: “We have dubbed [it] ‘the ice city’, and it will join the training rink and the show rink together.
“They will both feature in the live show this time around.”
With a brand new cast of celebrities plucked from the world of TV, music and showbiz, a refreshed line up of skating professionals, a spectacular new set, and more ambitious routines than ever before, the show’s revival will prove unmissable event television.
Torvill and Dean will both sit on a revamped ice panel alongside the formidable Jason Gardiner and choreographer extraordinare Ashley Banjo. ITV Racing’s Matt Chapman will commentate.
Dancing On Ice 2018 begins this Sunday night at 6PM on ITV.
