Dancing On Ice’s Antony Cotton fractures ribs after nasty fall

Dancing On Ice’s Antony Cotton has fractured his ribs after a fall in training.

Antony Cotton and pro partner Brandee Malto both ended up crashing to the ground during rehearsals for Sunday night’s latest show.

While Brandee was uninjured, Antony was taken to hospital and has been ordered to rest after fracturing his ribs.

It’s left the soap star in doubt for Sunday’s live performance.

Antony told The Sun newspaper: “We lost our balance and both fell backwards on to the ice. Luckily, Brandee was uninjured but I was taken to hospital where I discovered I had fractured a couple of ribs, front and back.

“I’d like to thank the staff at Silver Blades ice rink in Widnes, the doctor and nurse at The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, and Brandee, who never left my side throughout.”

He added: “Hopefully the painkillers and sequins will see us through.”

A show source told the tabloid: “Antony is in a lot of pain but is devastated as he had been throwing himself into his performance and putting everything into the competition.”

A spokesperson for the show said: “Antony fell on the ice during training and as a precaution was taken to a nearby hospital. He has since been released and is now resting ahead of the live show this weekend.”

Alongside Brandee and Antony, the couples remaining on the Dancing On Ice cast are Donna Air and Mark Hanretty, Alex Beresford and Brianne Delcourt, Kem Cetinay and Alex Murphy, and Lemar and Melody Le Moal.

They’re joined by Cheryl Baker and Dan Whiston, Jake Quickenden and Vanessa Bauer, Max Evans and Ale Izquierdo and Hamish Gaman and Brooke Vincent and Matej Silecky.

Once again, the celebrity and pro couples will skate live for the judges and viewers before the two lowest ranked skaters based on the panel’s scores and public poll face the skate off.

Last weekend saw Perri Shakes-Drayton and pro skater Hamish Gaman become the latest couple to be eliminated.

Dancing On Ice 2018 continues Sunday night on ITV at 6PM.
