Dancing On Ice back next year

Dancing On Ice has been renewed for a new series in 2019, ITV has announced.

The “greatest show on ice” will return to ITV in 2019 for what will be its eleventh series overall.

The show had run on ITV originally between 2006 and 2014, before a revival this year.

Dancing on Ice has now been re-commissioned for another series, hot on the heels of the show’s new reboot this year, which saw a peak of audience of 8.3 million viewers (live overnights) tune in for its first episode.

The show returned to ITV after a four year hiatus, broadcast live from a brand new home facilitating two state of the art ice rinks at Bovingdon Airfield.

With a revamped judging panel, led by skating legends Torvill and Dean, and the reunion of original presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, ITV say the series has seen viewers fall in love with skating all over again.

Th latest series concluded with its live final on Sunday night where X Factor singer Jake Quickenden crowned the winner.

Siobhan Greene, Head of Entertainment Commissioning, ITV, said “The show’s welcome back has exceeded our expectations and it’s been fantastic to see the audience at home loving it. The recommission is a no brainer and it’s brilliant for everyone involved to know it’ll be back next year.”

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV Studios Creative Director, added: “All of us missed Dancing on Ice while the show was off screen and it seems all our viewers did too… our on screen changes have been brilliantly received and we’re looking forward to getting our skates on for series two.”

Details on judges and hosts will be confirmed at a later date.
