Alexandra Burke says she wasn’t surprised to be in the dance off in Sunday night’s Strictly Come Dancing.
And as it happens, ending up in the bottom two could prove GOOD news for the X Factor winner.
Alexandra and her pro partner Gorka Marquez were in the dance off at the weekend for the first time this year.
They had to perform again for the judges, who saved the pair over Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton.
Speaking on BBC Two spin-off It Takes Two last night, Alexandra said: “It wasn’t a shock that I wound up there.
“I had a weird feeling I was going to be in the bottom two. I knew I could have done better.
“I was just shaking so much.”
Host Zoe Ball then dropped some good news on Alexandra and Gorka.
She told the pair how every couple who had been in the dance off after performing the Rumba just like them had gone on to make the final.
“Statistic time though, this is good,” Zoe explained. “If you watch this show a lot, you may have heard the phrase, the Rumba is a notoriously difficult dance a few thousand times.
“Well, there are some very well regarded celebs who found themselves in the bottom two with this dreaded dance.”
Over the years the likes of Julian Clarey, Denise Van Outen, Abbey Clancy, Simon Webbe and Mark Wright have all been in the dance off after the tricky routine.
But all bounced back and all made the final.
“They were all finalists in the end, so hopefully you can take some good stuff from that,” Zoe encouraged Alexandra.
This week Alexandra and Gorka will be performing the Charleston.
Strictly airs Saturday and Sunday night on BBC One with a Musicals themed special.
