Chris Kamara ‘forced to turn down Strictly Come Dancing’

Footballer turned TV presenter Chris Kamara has revealed he’s turned down Strictly Come Dancing.

It was previously claimed that Sky Sports pundit and Ninja Warrior UK host Chris could take to the dancefloor.

Producers had apparently approached the ex-footballer after they were impressed with his moves in the recent Sport Relief ‘World In Motion’ dance-off.

However Chris says that it’s “not going to happen” due to his “totally knackered” body.

Confirming he had been asked to take part, Chris said: “I’ve been invited to do Strictly and they told me who I would be dancing with because, apparently, you have to train with them for six weeks before.

“But it’s just not going to happen because my body is knackered.”

He explained to The Sun newspaper: “I got injured just before we filmed Ninja Warrior, which stopped me playing football with my mates. I haven’t played football since. I’m crocked now, my back has gone and I feel like my body has packed in.

“I’m totally knackered now. They’d need some serious WD40 for me.”

With Strictly ruled out, Chris returns to host Ninja Warrior’s brand new series on ITV this Saturday night from 6:30PM.

Meanwhile, a number of other celebs are looking more certain for a place on the Strictly Come Dancing line-up.

They include Happy Mondays performer Bez, model Vogue Williams, former England manager Sam Allardyce and Blue Peter’s Radzi Chinyanganya.

More names rumoured for Strictly Come Dancing are Tamara Ecclestone, Chris Evans and Popstars Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton.

Plus, there’s X Factor singer turned TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal.

He admitted recently: “I’m being bullied to do Strictly Come Dancing. I’d love to do it but it’s a very big time commitment.

“I’m in a lucky position and this could all end in the morning. Five years in telly is like 50. It’s more what you say no to rather than what you say yes to.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launches in September on BBC One.

The first names are typically confirmed in August.
