Cheryl Baker reckons the Dancing On Ice 2018 contestants aren’t paid enough

Bucks Fizz star suggests she wouldn't sign up for 'humiliating' Celebrity Big Brother

Cheryl Baker has claimed the Dancing On Ice 2018 contestants aren’t paid enough money, and suggested she’d never join Celebrity Big Brother, branding it ‘humiliating’.

Stars of the ITV skating competition go through gruelling training regimes for what is considered one of the toughest reality shows on telly.

Given how much hard work it involves, Cheryl reckons bosses don’t adequately compensate the celebs.

The Bucks Fizz singer told the Daily Star: “The money is not great in my opinion.

“I’ve been training six days a week since October. If you make it to the final it is a six-month project, so the money isn’t much in comparison.”

It’s unclear how much money Cheryl has pocketed for her involvement, but the newspaper claims that typical Dancing On Ice fees range from £20,000 to £100,000.

The 63-year-old isn’t turning her nose up at the money she is getting, however, revealing that she agreed to take part to help pay her mortgage.

“In this industry, you can go months at a time without a job though,” she explained.

“You can’t turn the work down. I have to work. I have a mortgage and bills to pay.”

Although she isn’t too picky, it seems there’s one job Cheryl wouldn’t accept – Celebrity Big Brother.

“I think Big Brother brings out the worst in people,” she admitted. “I don’t like how it manipulates and humiliates people.”

Cheryl previously took part in ITV’s Popstar to Operastar, finishing as runner-up in its second series.

She has also reportedly been in contention for multiple series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing over the years.

The Star suggests that Dancing On Ice’s highest-paid contestant of all time is Pamela Anderson.

Despite being one of the show’s most prolific signings ever, chiefs apparently only went as high as £150,000 for the Baywatch actress.
