Celebs Go Dating has dedicated its latest episode to Mike Thalassitis, who passed away this weekend.

Love Island star Mike appeared on E4’s Celebs Go Dating last year.

Tragically, it was revealed on Saturday that Mike had died, aged 26.

Celebs Go Dating said in a statement: “Everyone here at Celebs Go Dating are shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Mike.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this very sad time. Rest in peace Mike.”

Sunday’s latest episode of the 2019 series (March 17) was dedicated in his memory.

Nadia Essex, who was a dating agent when Mike was on the show, paid tribute to him following news of his death.

She told the Daily Mail: “Mike and I were close, we spent a lot of time together when we were in Cape Verde [for Celebs Go Dating filming]. And he was far from muggy, he was magic; he was a beautiful human being!”

The sad news of Mike’s death, aged just 26, first broke at the weekend on Saturday, March 16.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement they were called to a park in London, explaining: “Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 20s, deceased.

“At this early stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious. Police are in the process of informing the man’s next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Mike rose to fame on 2017’s Love Island before going on to appear on Celebs Go Dating and make magazine headlines for his relationship with The Only Way Is Essex’s Megan McKenna.

Love Island have also issued a statement, saying: “Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island are shocked and saddened by this terrible news.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mike’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
