Britain’s Got Talent 2019 winner Colin Thackery is reportedly returning to compete on its special Champions edition.
Singer Colin won over the British public on the thirteenth series of the ITV talent contest earlier this year.
The Chelsea pensioner’s performance of ‘Love Changes Everything’ in the grand final saw him beat magician X to victory, with 25.3% of the vote.
Less than two months later, he is now hoping to go one better and become the champion of champions.
Production is underway for a new Britain’s Got Talent spin-off, involving former contestants competing against acts from around the world for a second shot at success.
According to the Metro, Colin is one of the scores of hopefuls making a comeback.
“Colin is everything that Britain’s Got Talent should represent,” an insider said. “It seems only fair that he be given a chance to keep his title.
“He has been achieving a life-long dream with this show so was more than happy to come back to the series once again.
“If anyone deserves to win BGT twice, it’s him.”
Colin is one of several former BGT winners apparently aiming to make another mark in the show’s record books.
Original victor Paul Potts is likely to return, alongside Ashleigh Butler, Collabro and Lost Voice Guy.
Meanwhile, Jai McDowall has been drafted in as a last-minute replacement for Susan Boyle, who pulled out over her busy schedule.
One legendary act who won’t be joining them is Diversity. The dancers are “unable” to participate amid preparations for their latest tour.
Filming for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions began this week at Wembley Arena, with Ant and Dec presenting as usual.
Regular judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are also back.
The entirely pre-recorded series will follow a different format, as a similar America’s Got Talent spin-off did earlier this year.
Whoever takes the crown will earn a grand prize of £100,000, down from the usual £250,000.
BGT: The Champions is due to air on ITV from next month.
