Britain’s Got Talent’s Gruffydd Wyn Roberts has revealed his song choice for tonight’s live show
Gruffydd is a 22-Year-old from Amlwch on the Isle-of-Anglesey in North Wales who lives with his Nan. He won the
He won Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer in the auditions, securing a spot in tonight’s live semi-final.
Speaking ahead of the show, Gruff has announced he’ll be singing a song called Nelle Tue Mani (In Your Hands).
He explained the choice: “You need to go out there and grab your opportunity ans that’s what I’m going to go out there and do.”
Appearing in the auditions earlier this month, Gruff admitted he would never have “plucked up the courage” to try BGT if it wasn’t for his enthusiastic brother and mates. However, the opera singer’s nerves were quickly exposed on stage when Simon asked about his complicated living situation, leaving him stuttering.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Simon then interrupted Gruff’s first performance, ‘Un Giorno Per Noi’. “You’re very nervous, this was very cold and mechanical,” he said.
After a mouthful of water, Gruff began his second song, ‘Nessun Dorma’. As he hit the big notes, the audience rewarded him with a standing ovation. Amid the raucous applause, Amanda hit the Golden Buzzer.
“When you were ten and Paul Potts auditioned for this show, he blew us away with that song,” Amanda recalled. “You just did the same.”
With his golden buzzer, Gruffydd is through to the live shows and has been “rehearsing religiously.”.
He told the Daily Post: “I think there’s a lot of tough competition this year. The standard is really high.
“Alesha has called it the battle of the singers this year, so I think it’s going to be quite a challenge, but game on.”
Rating his chances of winning, Gruff said: “Who knows? The reaction I’ve had from the public so far has been incredible and they’re all rooting for me, so who knows?
“I’m just taking it step by step at the moment and hopefully I’ll get through the semi-finals. We’ll see what happens after then.”
And if he did claim victory in the live shows this week, Gruff revealed how he’d spend the £250,000 prize money.
“I’d probably have a night out with the lads to celebrate,” he explained. “And I’d use it to help develop myself as an artist. I think it would just set me up for what I love doing, which is singing.
“My long term dream is to be a classical singer, selling out theatres, touring and selling albums.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs live all this week at 7:30PM on ITV.
Plus, More Talent airs straight after the main show on ITV2.
